Welcome to Make+Made – Community Crafthouse

Make+Made is a celebration of creativity, community, and local talent. We’re proud to support Guernsey’s makers through both our gift shops (Arcade and main Iris & Dora studio), and to use art and craft as a way to bring people together through free workshops, inclusive sessions, and school and charity projects.

When you support Make+Made, you’re not just buying something beautiful – you’re helping creativity reach further and touch more lives.

We’re always looking to grow our impact – and we can’t do it alone.

What is Social Enterprise

A social enterprise is a business that aims to make a positive impact on society while also earning money. Unlike traditional businesses, whose main goal is to maximize profit for owners or shareholders, a social enterprise focuses on using its profits to support a social, environmental, or community cause.

Here’s a simple breakdown:

  1. Business Model: Like any business, a social enterprise sells goods or services to generate income.
  2. Purpose-Driven: The key difference is that the business exists to address a social, environmental, or community need. This could be anything from helping local communities, providing education, or protecting the environment.
  3. Profit Reinvestment: Rather than paying out most of the profits to owners or shareholders, a social enterprise reinvests a large portion of its earnings back into the cause it supports. This ensures the mission stays at the heart of the business.

In short, a social enterprise uses business as a tool to create positive change in the world.
